90‘ Jewel makes his presence felt on the left flank and he cuts in and tries a curler to the top corner and the ball is a good three feet wide of the marker. Anas is awarded the Man of the Match.

88′ Iain Hume is livid and this time Chicao is the offender. Yellow Card for him. It was another piece of wrestle cum football that has come from Delhi’s end all evening.

Sushil comes on for Kolkata while Naoba Singh gets a look in for Delhi

85′ Arnab Mondal might have just saved the match here for Kolkata. Dos Santos raced to the byline and played a cut-back for Malouda, who thunders a shot stright to the Kolkata defender’s neck.

83′ There was a header from Gavilan off a free kick that went wide. Then came a long range effort a a Borja and the ball has gone wide of goal by some distance.

81′ RED CARD for Souvik!!!! The Delhi right back makes a horrendous, dangerous tackle on Gavilan and he could have got a straight red for that. The referee gives the second yellow instead. Mindless football there.

80′ Mulder shoots wide!!! There was confusion in the Kolkata area as the defense were in sixes and sevens. Amrinder comes out of the box to clear the ball and Mulder’s attempt at an unmanned net from 35 yards out is just wide.

78′ An excellent diagonal ball is sent from the right flank and Doutie, once again shows great energy and technique to take the ball. His run is checked though and the shot is off target.

76′ Kolkata have a promising spell on the ball here and Gavilan has the chance to put Jewel through and the final pass is poor and is easily cut out by Delhi. Ralte with a sliding clearance.

73′ How atleast three Delhi players didn’t sent off, I wouldn’t know. Here comes another flying boot and this is Hans Mulder who comes in and takes a man down.

72′ There are more crunching tackles from Delhi. This time, it is from Souvik, who gets his trademark yellow card.

Kolkata make another substitution – Jewel Raja comes on for Baljit Sahni

69′ Now, awkwardness at the Kolkata end. Amrinder tips a dipping ball away. The cross was sent through on goal from Gustavo dos Santos, who had early come on for Dadzie.

67‘ Doblas pounces and makes a crucial save!! It was a pass from Doutie and it took a deflection off Roberto Carlos and nearly rolled in the net as the goalie was left flat footed.

65′ The Brazil loving Kolkata public are in raptures as Roberto Carlos is set to come on. He replaces Riise. The reception was fabulous. One wonders how it would be when he is set to take a free kick.

63′ Delhi have the ball and Malouda gets into the area and Robin Singh is caught offside. More injuries for Kolkata and the medics are now on to treat Nato.

60‘ Kolkata are attacking in numbers and yet again, they can’t get the final ball into the box. Then Gadze gets half-a-chance and the ball is sent wide of the target.

58′ The tackles are getting far more intense and reckless from the Delhi players and Hume is thumped on his head. It is right next to his head injury that he suffered and is furious.

53′ Crazy one minute of play. Chicao should have bee sent off after flinging his boot on the chest of Tiri. Habas is furious on the touchline and there is a free kick and Borja smashes a shot and it is straight to the keeper.

52′ Kolkata now threaten on the left flank. Doutie runs into a lot of space to get to the byline and cross is too powerful for one of the forwards to head the ball in.

49‘ The free kicks have been coming thick and fast in this game. Borja gets the ball in his area and launches a long ball to find one of his forwards but the ball rolls away to Doblas.

47′ The second half is underway and the match and Delhi give the ball away cheaply to Kolkata. The home side are having a very good spell of possession. Sahni goes down clutching his face but there is no foul given.

Half Time

45+1‘ Malouda wins a free kick at the edge of the area. Yellow Card for Baljit Sahni. The shot is drilled into the six-yard area from the former Chelsea man but the shot was too powerful for anyone to meet the end of it. That will be the last bit of action from a half that has missed the kind of spark that has been on display in the last few games.

45′ Doutie takes a punt from 30 yards out and it is calm and safe for keeper Doblas. Then comes a crunching tackle in the middle of the pitch from Riise on Hume. Yellow card for the former Liverpool man for protesting

44‘ Delhi have possession and string a good set of short passes. Chicao shows great resilience to keep the ball in play and Souvik’s final ball has no takers and it is a goal kicks.

42‘ The attacks are coming at a fairly regular pace at the moment and Kolkata also get a shot away now from the edge of the area but it rolls wide from Doblas, whose defense has let him down a few times in this half.

40′ Now Malouda comes close! It was a cross from the Frenchman that set up the attack and the ball that was swung in was perfect for Robin Singh to convert but it was over the bar.

38‘ It is a great chance for Kolkata! Borja aims for the near post and Baljit Sahni gets into a good position but the shot goes narrowly wide of the post. It looked like it was going in for a second.

37‘ Souvik makes a terrific tackle to get a Delhi attack under way. The final ball from Anas was missing. At the other end, the Delhi defender makes a near-calamitous error as Doblas clears it. Kolkata win a free kick.

35′ Oh dear, Delhi had a whiff there!! Robin Singh was called offside, only just though. The Indian forward’s one-touch pass forward found Malouda, who was clear on goal.

33′ Robin Singh is down and Delhi have a free kick. From 40 yards out, Riise and Chicao decide to take Amrinder on. The Norwegian takes the shot and it can be a contender in the Rugby World Cup

31′ Replays show that Doblas had actually got the man, not the ball. A throw in was signalled initially before the referee changed it to a free kick. There was pandemonium for a couple of minutes.

29′ Kolkata attack through the flanks again and yet again, Doblas shows safe hands in pouching the ball. Another attack is away and a poor back pass from Delhi nearly lands them in trouble and Doblas has to come out of his lines and tackle Hume off the ball. Close.

27‘ Delhi have the ball and after a few short passes at the back, Anas wastes it away with a long ball which goes out of play. More long balls and midfield tussles.

24′ Oh Gadze!!! What a waste of a chance. The Ghanian does the good part, getting into the box and taking the ball. There was a handball outside the area during the buildup. The Delhi striker makes space but his sot is sent into orbit.

22′ Souvik gets a good attack going on the right flank. The right back shows good presence down the channel and sends a cross in and Malouda, who was free in the box can’t get his forehead down to get a clean header.

20′ Delhi have the ball back and Habas has a word with the referee after Robin Singh pulled an arm out during an attack. The ball is thumped at both ends of the pitch and Hans Mulder gives a foul away.

17′ There is a better rhythm to Kolkata’ sattacks and it is Hume who is turning the style. The ball goes to the other end and Ralte tries to free Malouda but the ball is a fraction too quick.

14′ Neither side are having a good spell on the ball and the play has been largely uninspiring for the most part. Out of nowhere, Doutie thumps a cross into the box after getting to the byline but Hume’s well directed header is straight to the keeper.

11′ Gavilan takes the free kick and he picks out the man at the far post. The ball is headed back into the centre but Delhi clear the ball . Kolkata send a number of men forward and have three attempts for a good ball neither of them are successful. Nato has the final attempt and the ball rolls out of play.

8‘ Delhi try to make their way into the Kolkata area. Malouda is at the thick of things here and there is a foul called on the Frenchman. Another foul from Delhi as Chicao puts a hand on Borja’s face.

6′ Suddenly, there is action-packed play at both ends of the pitch. Malouda goes on a surging run and was stopped before he entered the area as he unsuccessfully tried to take shot of his weaker right foot. Kolkata get an attack on the right flank but the cross was poor.

4′ Malouda races away on the right flank but is stopped in his tracks. A long ball goes forward to Hume but Delhi are holding it tight at the back so far.

2‘ The match is under way and the home side have the early touches on the ball before Delhi get the ball back. Plenty of scrappy play in the centre as the possession keeps changing hands.

Atlético de Kolkata so far: W-D-W-L-L
Delhi Dynamos FC so far: L-W-W-W-L
Head-to-Head: Both encounters last season ended in draws. It was 1-1 in Kolkata and 0-0 in Delhi when these two sides last met.

Anas Edathodika vs Javi Lara
An outstanding performer for Delhi Dynamos FC at the heart of defence, Anas Edathodika is one of the main reasons behind Delhi conceding just five goals so far this season. His ability to pick out a pass from the back also acts as an added boost for the Lions. Edathodika has a passing accuracy of 90% which is on a par with the best amongst the league’s defenders.
The Spaniard has been an influential figure for ATK this season. Always in the thick of things, Lara has found the back of net once and also provided an assist this year. His ability to create chances make him an absolute game changer. Not one to shy away from the ball in defence, the primarily attack-minded playmaker has made four tackles for his side this season.

Sehnaj Singh vs Borja Fernandez

Sehnaj Singh has risen to the occasion and made the most of outings for Delhi Dynamos FC this year. The 22-year-old has shown maturity beyond his years by cementing the midfield slot for the Lions this season. Singh’s possession retention skills has especially turned many heads.

Florent Malouda vs Rino Anto

The dynamic Frenchman has lived up to his billing so far in Season 2 of the Hero ISL. Malouda is constantly on the move and has so far attempted an astonishing 337 passes. His vision in the final third has seen him complete two assists for the Lions thus far. The veteran playmaker’s quality from dead-ball situations is another weapon in Delhi attacking arsenal.
Malouda’s propensity to drift into wider areas makes for an interesting battle with ATK full-back Rino Anto, who has been outstanding for the reigning champions this season. The powerful right-back’s overlapping runs have seen him make eight crosses for Atlético de Kolkata in Season 2. Expect Anto’s confrontation with Malouda to have a major say in which way the pendulum swings on Thursday.
